The name “Au Pair” is a French word meaning “on par” or in other words, “equal to”. Quite often in Russian the word is translated as “nanny’, which is not correct. A nanny is an employee of a family and is treated as an employee. An Au Pair is treated on an equal level as other members of the family.
As an Au Pair you will live with an American family for one year, caring for their children. You will receive a weekly salary for this, plus you will also attend a local college or university for several hours each week, paid for by the family, as part of the program. After six months your host family will send you on a one-week vacation and at the end of your one-year program you will have 30 days to travel, at your expense.
At The English Club we have many students whom we assist to go on programs such as Work & Travel for 3 or 4 months during the summer. But, unfortunately this Work & Travel program is not open to all students in the city.
We have recently decided to also offer the Au Pair program because this offers a very unique opportunity for other students to gain a much deeper understanding of American life and culture at a fraction of the cost of the Work & Travel program.
We are not the only company in Chelyabinsk offering the Au Pair program, but with our experience, reputation and high level of customer service, we are able to lead you through the process and do everything to assure that you become part of the program.
The English Club is a partner of The Au Pair Foundation of Novato, California. They are one of only twelve US State Department approved sponsors in the US, and they are also one of the oldest. We are proud to be working with them directly.
The Au Pair program is a very serious program and not to be entered into lightly. Not all candidates will be chosen for this program. In addition to the regular program requirements, it involves a high level of maturity, responsibility, flexibility and adaptability.
You will trust an American family to take good care of you for a year, and they will trust you to take care of their children for a year.
